Scholarship Details
In loving memory of Alec, AFYSSC is awarding two $2,000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships to students who best demonstrate an appreciation for the impact of sports in their lives, who have a continued commitment to athletics, and support making sports accessible to more youth in the future.
We are introducing the scholarship this year to coincide with what would have been Alec’s senior year. It will be our honor to support Alec's classmates, teammates, friends, and peers in pursuing their goals in his memory.
Eligibility criteria:

Attended high school in Sutter, Yuba or Colusa counties.

Participated in youth or high school sports.

Plan to begin or continue post-secondary education program (college, trade, certificate) in 2024-25.
Application requirements:

Complete the online application form with short essay questions

Upload current grades

Upload proof of attendance at a high school in Sutter, Yuba or Colusa County
-
One or two letters of recommendation is suggested, but not required
Applications are due by March 31.
Alec Flores Memorial Scholarship
AFYSSC is proud to announce the 2024 Alec Flores Memorial Scholarship for student athletes who are pursuing their education or professional development following high school.
Alec was a passionate kid and avid athlete who was tragically struck and killed by a drunk driver while walking to Franklin Elementary School in 2019 where he was an eighth grader. AFYSSC was established to help more youth experience the joy of sports in his memory. And since 2020 we have awarded more than 385 scholarships to local athletes.
